2007 Carnival Results

U10 Carnival – 20 May 2007

Our 2007 U10 rooball carnival was played out on Sunday, 20 May, in beautiful conditions at Cornubia Park.  A strong contingent of 12 teams from all parts of our newly formed Football Brisbane boundaries took to the fields in what was a very strongly contested day with some very close results.  All of the teams competed in the true spirit and all players, team officials and parents represented their clubs proudly.

The round-robin phase saw each team play a series of five games within their pool with the top two teams from each side of the draw progressing to the semi-finals.  Rochedale Rovers (Bolton) and Moggill FC (AC Milan) finished top of their respective groups having both gone through the group stage undefeated.  Loganholme Lightning (Cyclones) and Brisbane Athletic finished second in their respective pools and also progressed to the semi-finals.

Semi-final one saw Rochedale Rovers take on Brisbane Athletic in a hard fought encounter.  The game finished with a nil-all draw after extra time with Rochedale progressing to the grand-final on corners.  Semi-final two saw Moggill FC take on Loganholme Lightning which was won 2-0 by Moggill FC in another well contested game.

Moggill FC met Rochedale Rovers in the grand-final and saw Moggill run out eventual winners 2-0.  Congratulations to all teams that participated in what was a great day.  Congratulations to Moggill FC (AC Milan) for being deserved winners having gone through the day winning all seven of their games and not conceding a goal all day – well done.

U9 Carnival – 17 June 2007

20 teams converged onto the Loganholme fields for one of the largest U9 carnivals we have hosted in recent years.  Teams from all over Brisbane took part in what was probably the strongest field ever seen at a Loganholme carnival.  Teams were allocated into 4 pools with the winner and runner-up from each pool progressing to the quarter finals.  Loganholme (United), Loganholme (Mariners), Loganholme (Glory), Rochedale Rovers (Rockets), Rochedale Rovers (9C), Capalaba (Bulldogs), Queensland Lions (Hibernian) and Brisbane Athletic all progressed to the quarter finals after the pool games.  The carnival saw some excellent skill and ability demonstrated throughout the day with an array of excellent goals being scored.  Click here to download one of the best.

Rochedale Rovers (Rockets), Rochedale Rovers (9C), Capalaba (Bulldogs) and Queensland Lions (Hibernian) were all victorious in their respective quarter finals with some very tight games being witnessed.  Most of the games were only decided by a single goal and the Loganholme (Glory) and Rochedale Rovers (9C) quarter final finished in a nil-all draw after 10 minutes extra time with Rochedale progressing on corners.

Semi-final one was Rochedale Rovers (Rockets) defeat Capalaba (Bulldogs) 1-0 whilst semi-final two between Rochedale Rovers (9C) and Queensland Lions (Hibernian) finished in a nil-all draw after extra time with Rochedale (9C) again progressing on corners.  The grand-final was an all Rochedale Rovers affair with the Rockets running our eventual winners over their counterparts (9C) in a very tight 1-0 win.  Congratulations to all teams that participated in what was a great day.

Finally – a big thanks go to the Queensland Roar (A-league) mascot – Roary for attending the carnival and helping present the trophies and medals at the end of the day.  Roary was a big hit with the crowd and players and is welcome back at Loganholme anytime.

U8 Carnival – 22 July 2007

Our U8 rooball carnival was held on 22 July and again was a fantastic success with an incredible 30 teams taking to the fields at Loganholme.  All of the players, team officials and parents we impeccably behaved and a great day was held by all.  The group stage saw some tremendous football being played across the park – unfortunately only the winner of each of the six groups could progress to the final series.  Rochedale Manchester and Rochedale Barcelona finished in first and second place respectively and progressed direct to the semi-finals.  Loganholme Manchester, Loganholme Chelsea, Jimboomba and Regents Park were left to do battle in the elimination finals.  Unfortunately for Loganholme both teams went down narrowly in their elimination finals.  The semi-finals were won by Jimboomba and Rochedale Manchester who then met each other in the grand-final.  Rochedale Manchester ran out eventual winners 3-1.

Finally – a big thanks go to the Queensland Roar (A-league) mascot – Roary for again attending the carnival and helping present the trophies and medals at the end of the day.

U6 & U7 Carnival – 12 August 2007

Our in-house U6 and U7 all-commers rooball carnivals were held on 12 August and I believe that we saved the best for last – what an extraordinary day of rooball action.  Our in-house U6 carnival saw six teams compete in a round-robin event with the top two teams playing off in the grand-final.  For these 5 and 6 year olds this was their first carnival experience and from watching them they enjoyed every minute of it.  The Grand-final was played out between the ‘Incredibles’ and the ‘Ninja Turtles’ with the Incredibles running out winners 2-0 in a very close encounter.  Well done to all of the players, parents and coaches for making this a special day for our youngest rooballers.

Down on the main field we had 20 U7 teams from across Brisbane taking part in our final carnival of the season.  Teams were divided into 4 pools of 5 with the winner and runner-up from each pool progressing to the finals.  At the completion of the quarter final round we were down to the final four, Mt Gravatt Hawks (Perth Glory), Mt Gravatt Hawks (Joeys), Regents Park (Pocket Rockets) and Loganholme (Panthers).

Semi-final one between Loganholme and Regents Park turned out to be the match of the carnival.  After normal time and extra time both teams were level at nil-all.  The game went into further extra time with each side dropping a player every two minutes (goal-keeper first) until a goal was scored.  The game went down to the wire with each side only have one player remaining before Loganholme (Panthers) were able to trickle the ball into the net.  Semi-final 2 was won 2-0 by Mt. Gravatt Hawks (Perth Glory).

We thought that it would be hard to get any better that the incredible semi-final but we probably got pretty close with the grand-final between Loganholme (Panthers) and Mt Gravatt Hawks (Perth Glory).  It was a very competitive affair – after normal time and 10 minutes of extra time both teams were level at nil-all and were declared joint winners – a first for a Loganholme Carnival.

Once again, all of the players, team officials and parents we impeccably behaved and a great day was held by all.  The 2007 carnival season at Loganholme has been our best ever and we would like to thank all of the teams that have visited our club throughout the season – you re all welcome back next year.
