SAT 28 JUNE 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Rochedale A (Away)

We arrived at Underwood Park without 2 of our players Jed Brown (sick) and Alex Ludwig (hols) so down to a bare minimum of 10 players and in addition coach Ray was on a coaching course so coach Kev took the reigns. Against a very good Rochedale side the Loganholme boys played a magnificent game of football scoring 2 great goals from Carlton westerdale the boys put themselves in a great position to win the game. However the loss of 2 of our players told in the end and Rochedale won the game in the second half. Some of our play was excellent with some neat one-two passing and support play and an excellent save late in the game from Callum. Special mention to all the players especially Jed Levit, Hayden Bourke, Carlton Westerdale, Lucas Dyer, Matthew Green, Josh Melloy, Callum Vine, Oliver Luca and Joel Edler for a fantastic determined effort and to show that this team has special qualities to work hard as a "team" Well done boys.

SAT  07 JUNE 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Loganholme Cyclones (Home)

On Saturday we had our local derby against Loganholme Cyclones (who we hve had great contests with over the last few seasons) and in a hard fought game we came away with a win. There were some good performances from the team noticably; Oliver Luca, Carlton Westerdale, Hayden Bourke, Callum Vine, Lucas Dyer and Alex Ludwig. Thanks to Josh Melloy and Jed Brown (who made teh save of the year) for taking the responsibilities in goal with both keepers keeping a clean sheet. Special mention for another great headed goal from Hayden - a superb header which was created from an equally good cross from Carlton these two are forming a good partnership in front of goal. It was a great game and really demonstrated what talent Loganholme have at a club level with some great performances form both teams. The game was played in great spirit with a great performance from Lightning and a great contest from the Cyclones who also had good performances from Zach Avarakis, Connor Eastwood-Cole, Mitchell Power and Riley Oconnor.

SAT  17 MAY 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Clairvaux (Home)

The Tornadoes worked together beautifully today and proved that good passing and team play would dominate the game and lead them to victory. A very excited team gathered momentum as the game progressed and saw a couple of the quieter players rise to the fore and display great determination in their tackling for the ball. All players are trying their hardest to utilize their training skills to begin to read the play more effectively and to maximise possession of the ball. Well done Tornadoes, keep up the good work.

SAT  10 MAY 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Mt Gravatt Barcelona (Home)

The Tornado’s were unable to whip up a storm against Barcelona on Saturday on home turf. The team continues to show signs of improvement and it is evident there is a range of different skill levels amongst the individual team members. It is terrific to see some of these players putting into practice the skills they have been taught at training, after all, it is not whether the team is winning week in, week out, but the development of the player and the team with which they belong that is a true reflection of their passion for the game. Have fun and keep working hard Tornado’s.

SAT  19 APRIL 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Holland Park Hawks (Away)

The Tornadoes took to the field amidst dreary skies in foreign territory to take on the Hawks. The first half saw the Tornadoes play well with some very good tackling and determination when playing the ball. The team worked very well to score first but were outplayed by some performance passing by the opposition allowing them to dominate the remainder of the game, particularly in the second half.

SAT  05 APRIL 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Souths Utd (Away)

The team were missing 3 players this week and so a big thank-you to Zach Avarakis for stepping in to help out - the game went ok however on a field which was a little narrow the boys expansive game took a bit of a nose dive. Loganholme still managed a fair few goals to win the game however the style of the previous weeks game was missing and some good passing play only appeared in spasms to say the least. To their credit the team never stopped trying to play and always looked in control - Well done boys!

SAT  29 MARCH 2008

Loganholme Lightning -V- Clairvaux Pumas (Home)

We had a good first game of the season with a strong performance against Clairvaux Pumas with plenty of goals for Loganholme and the boys managed to play a lovely brand of entertaining football. This team is known for their style of play where passing and movement are very evident - the boys put on a great show using the width of the field for some great wing play from Jed Levitt, central mid-field creativity from Jed Brown, a buzzing display from Carlton Westerdale and some good touches from Joel Edler. Unfortunately our goalkeepers were never tested but maybe that's a huge testament to the rest of the team for playing an uptempo game - well done Lightning proving that pass and move football is a delight to watch.

Loganholme Lightning -V- John Paul College (Away)

The team took just the first 15-20 minutes to discover each others strength’s and use them to their advantage to defeat John Paul College in the first away game of the season. The team banded together well to win the game by a couple of goals. As with most teams, this was the first game the players had together with just 2 training sessions prior to the match and it is a credit to them and an exciting prospect for the remainder of the season. Good luck and have fun next week Tornado's.
