SOUTHSIDE EAGLES - SUNDAY 17 AUGUST 2008

Guess What    _ Loganholme do it again!

Loganholme again took their normal Saturday Rooball team to Southside Eagles carnival and came away victorious against a very good Pine Hills team on Sunday.

Without doubt this was a great acheivement as the the quality of teams were very good Loganholme went through their group pool undefeated winning against some very strong teams including: Annerley, Queensland Lions, Pine Hills, Southside Eagles and Holland park.

The Final however was a great game of football between 2 very good teams Pine Hills Yellow and Loganholme Lightning. The game went from end to end with both teams creating chances and it was Loganholme who struck first with a goal from Carlton Westerdale who followed up on a blockbuster shot from Jed Brown that rebounded off the crossbar for Carlton to knock into the net (1-0) then Pine Hills hit back with a very good goal (1-1).

Loganholme again took the lead with another goal from Carlton Westerdale whose shot took a deflection and went in the goal (2-1) only for Pine Hills to square it back with another good goal (2-2).

With the scores deadlocked the final went into extra time Golden Goal - again the game was end to end and after Jed Brown hit a rocket of a shot towards the top corner of the goal and with everyone around already cheering for the goal the Pine Hills Goalkeeper somehow made a magnificent save palming the ball around the post - a quite magnificent save for a 10 yr old kid and worthy of special mention it really had to be seen to be believed.

With the game heading for a deadlock Hayden Bourke picked up the ball in midfield beat 2 defenders and rifled a shot past the Pine Hills Goalie to win the game for Loganholme (3-2) - a fantastic acheivement for Loganholme and a third carnival win for the year well done to a very special team!!

PINE HILLS - SUNDAY 18 MAY 2008

Loganholme do it again!

Loganholme Lightning (U10) with guest appearances from Luke Harris, Joel Dickie, Justin Smith and Zack Avarakis travelled to the north-side of town to the Pine Hills carnival where they were the only south-side team nominated and came away victorious after a bitterly cold, windy day.  The boys topped their group stage after a hard fought win over Brisbane Athletic (who beat Loganholme in the final of the U9 event in 2007).

The team won their quarter-final against a very physical Albany Creek side (2-0) and again came up against Brisbane Athletic in the semi-final and managed to hang on for a tight (1-0) victory.  The boys went on to defeat Peninsula Power (3-1) in a game where we dominated the game for long periods.

The boys put on some spectacular football skills throughout the day with some fantastic goals, with Hayden Bourke scoring 4 times from headers from brilliant corners by Jed Levitt and Carlton Westerdale.  A very special mention goes out to our smallest and most tenacious player - Josh Dilks who once again demonstrated he is 150% heart.  Well done Loganholme.

TEVIOT DOWNS - SUNDAY 27 APRIL 2008

Loganholme win the Carnival

Loganholme Lightning (U10) took their regular Saturday team to the Teviot Downs Carnival and came away victorious after a long hot day in the sun. With temperatures around 30 degrees the boys endured some hard fought games winning the final against a gallant Moggill team 5-0.

The boys came through their group stage winning against Jimboomba and Teviot Downs then a draw against Moggill meant they were matched up with Logan Village in the semi final.

The boys ran out 5-2 winners against Logan Village and again came up against a very good Moggill side in the grand final however this time we managed to score an early goal from Carlton Westerdale then went on to score 4 more from Alex Ludwig (1), Jed Brown (1), Hayden Bourke (1) and another 2nd goal from Carlton.

Special mention to Oliver Luca who was outstanding throughout and Callum Vine for some great saves between the sticks - Well Done Boys.
